Dave announced a formal agreement was reached with Andrés Manzano, Sports Director for UE Cornella of Barcelona. They will be bringing their camps for 2 weeks to Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex next summer. The Summer Camp agreement, through their direct collaboration agreement with FC Barcelona´s unique and personalized soccer program, will provide top level Spanish coaches and ex-professional players to employ the technical and tactical coaching techniques that Spanish soccer is renowned for.
Barcelona club Unió Esportiva Cornellà, also referred to in Catalan as UE Cornellà or in Spanish as UD Cornellà. UE Cornellà is the third most successful youth development club in Catalonia behind FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol. They are also a feeder club and grass roots partner with FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol and England’s Blackburn Rovers.
Over the past 5 years UE Cornellà has become the preferred player source for clubs throughout Spain, Europe and the world. In the past year professional clubs such as FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol, Villarreal F.C., Zaragoza F.C., Atletico Madrid and Blackburn Rovers have sent scouts to identify and sign over 10 players from U.D. Cornella.
The partnership with UE Cornella involves Cornella collaborating with Discoveries Soccer Club on player recruitment, coaching certification, methodology and coaching curriculum sharing, and team trips to Barcelona.
UE Cornella, through their arrangement with FC Barcelona, will also conduct a Talent Identification Program to invite any stand-out players back to Barcelona for additional development.
